MANILA, Philippines – Japan and the Philippines took their partnership up a notch as they signed the Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) that would allow their armed forces to train together.

The Philippines joins the short list of countries, along with Australia and the United Kingdom, with RAAs with Japan. The agreement comes as both Manila and Tokyo deal with a more aggressive Beijing in the South China Sea and East China Sea.
