MANILA, Philippines – After decades in Cavite, Jonvic Remulla is taking the helm of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
It’s a huge portfolio — the newly minted secretary has supervision of all local government units in the Philippines, as well as agencies such as the Philippine National Police.
In his first sit-down interview since taking oath as interior chief, Remulla talks to Rappler about his plans for the department, the 2025 elections, a police force that’s been changed by Duterte’s drug war, and the entry of a second Remulla in President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet.
