MANILA, Philippines – In hot pursuit of her second Webbys nomination, Filipina food content creator Abi Marquez has been recognized once more by an international award-giving body for her commitment to bringing Filipino cooking and cuisines to a global audience.

Marquez is nominated in two categories for the 45th Annual Telly Awards: People’s Telly Online Series, Shows & Segments Category and People’s Telly Social Video.

For the Online Series, Shows & Segments Category, Marquez’s entire body of content is spotlighted — from her viral Tiktok recipes, to deep dives into Filipino food history, to creating Filipino reinterpretations of iconic dishes.

Marquez’s nomination in this category puts her against big names in global media such as Warner Bros. Discovery, Disney Experiences, and LANY Entertainment, which, in effect, places homegrown Filipino content on the global stage.

Meanwhile, for the Social Video category, Marquez is nominated for her viral video titled “Gordon Ramsay Doesn’t Like My Beef Wellington,” wherein she recreated Gordon Ramsay’s famously difficult Beef Wellington with a Filipino twist — knowing full well that the celebrity chef might not approve.

In his visit to Manila in January, Ramsay invited Marquez on stage and “accidentally” announced their collaboration, saying that she took the Wellington, and put it inside “this incredible spring roll.” He gushed, “To see the Wellington the way you did it, it was absolutely stunning.”

The Social Video category celebrates short-form content designed for platforms TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and so forth. Here, Marquez’s entry is up against Netflix Queue, CeraVe, and Al Jazeera Digital, among others.

Established in 1979, the Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television. With the rise of digital video and social media, the Tellys have transformed into a major platform for all video media, on all screens including broadcast TV, documentary, digital media, social media content, and branded content.

The Tellys receive over 13,000 entries each year from all over the world, spanning a wide range of content. Telly Award winners represent the best work created within the video medium, whether they were produced by respected advertising agencies, TV stations, or media companies for a specific client, or self-produced by independent creators as a personal project.

The criteria for eligibility for nomination, are as follows:

  • Work is either in, or subtitled in, the English language;
  • Work is accompanied by a video link viewable for the judges;
  • Submissions in the Campaign or Series categories contain two to five pieces;
  • Work has not appeared in any major TV networks in the US (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, or CW); and
  • For the Non-Broadcast film/video productions and non-network TV programs categories, work submitted may be the full program, or a five- to ten-minute clip representative of the entire piece.

While all entries are judged by members of The Telly Award Judging Council, both of Marquez’s nominations fall under the People’s Telly Category, which means the winners will be determined by the public’s votes.
